Cartwright James is currently representing a global organisation that offers a portfolio of products and services that are delivered to the diagnostic and life science industries globally.

The organisation is a leading expert in assay development and manufacturing services, and provides and extensive portfolio of products and technologies to the global diagnostic market, the other arm of the organisation focuses upon Point of Care technology.

Our client is currently searching for a Commercial Operations Director, regarded as a pivotal role for the success of our client. The role will standardise processes and meet the high expectations of their customers. Whilst simultaneously reducing customer facing administration while allowing the company to capture, distil and use knowledge obtained from the CRM and other such tools. You will be responsible for 5 direct reports.


  • Establish Quality Improvement Programmes (QIP) throughout the commercial teams to better serve the customer.
  • Initiate and lead business process mapping and development to improve organisational effectiveness.
  • Own regional customer advocacy, bringing together and aligning all commercial operational perspectives.
  • Define and lead the customer service team to ensure customer ordering processes are seamless. Establishing a clear SOP and ensuring their adoption throughout the company to meet or exceed customer experience and advocacy.
  • Drive service excellence through proactive identification of barriers to success and authorising and implementing effective systemic resolutions.
  • Ensure that the department’s planning and resources are aligned with overall company goals.
  • Lead the annual price role and the suggested pricing for the company.

Expertise Required

  • Higher education or relevant based experience.
  • Experienced in building long term strategic relationships with multiple entry level points in account with clients.
  • Comfortable presenting and managing pitches at board level.
  • Experience working with CRM and excel systems.
  • Comfortable with travel periods of sometimes between 7-14 days
  • Technical knowledge within POC/Lateral flow preferred.
  • Financial forecasting and reporting
  • Knowledge across IT and CRM databases.
